"Flying by the seat of your pants" (aka) managing life by 'intuition' is the norm for most people, every single day, all over the world. Hundreds of millions of people flying blind, hoping and praying not to crash and make it home for dinner once more at the end of the day. So, what's the alternative to 'life management' by intuition?
For millions, the alternative is the mass consumption of a daily diet of 'motivational quotations' taken like a dose of aspirin, caffeine or sugar snacks delivering that 'jolt' of inspiration, or relief from the emotional pain they're suffering. For most it never lasts. It's a temporary fix leaving them unsatisfied and hungrily chewing through inspirational slogans, 'life coaches' and 'self-help gurus' looking for 'something' that will stick. Something solid and authentic they can build on.
Life As a Craft
The alternative to the glut of 'fix my life quick' motivational 'fast-food' flooding the marketplace, is to make a masterpiece of your life the 'old fashioned way'; take the time and do the work with skill and quality. After all, no mission is more important and no adventure is more rewarding. To practice the whole of 'life-as-a-craft', the way a craftsperson mindfully practices the trade of textile weaving, medicine, or carpentry, requires that the myriad activities of the 'craft of life' be systematically organized, managed, taught and learned similar to the ways in which we organize, manage, teach and practice our trades, occupations and professions.
Drawing upon centuries of knowledge and practical experience by master craftsmen and craftswomen, Charles Collins has skillfully organized a complete body of life knowledge into Five Elements, providing the guidance and motivation to practice 'life-as-a-craft'.

A sophisticated, put together career woman prior to having kids, now Liz Cartwright is lucky to go to the bathroom by herself, much less get out of the house wearing matching shoes and a clean shirt. While she is preoccupied with the sometimes mind-numbing responsibilities of motherhood, her husband is becoming increasingly distant and preoccupied with work, giving Liz the distinct impression that she is losing her husband along with her sense of identity. Armed with a book on spicing up her sex life purchased at a sex toy party and the help of her three best girlfriends, Liz embarks on an all-out attempt to rejuvenate her marriage and find personal fulfillment.
However, things in Liz’s life have a tendency to fail with hilarious results, and her attempts to woo her husband are no exceptions. Despite numerous setbacks—a pantiless tennis court seduction gone awry, a stolen vibrator and an unfortunate incident involving a thong—Liz is determined to reclaim her romantic mojo, until a chance encounter with her first love and a hobby that inadvertently turns into a job opportunity make Liz reevaluate what love inside marriage means and the price she is willing to pay to reclaim her sense of self-worth.

Among the querulous island kingdoms of Wefrivain, the only unifying power is religion--a wyvern cult, ruled by an eccentric High Priestess. The wyverns are under attack by a gang of pirates, known as the Guild of the Cowry Catchers. The pirates are beginning to worry Priestess Morchella.
She thinks she's found an answer in the person of Gerard Holovar, the new captain of her Temple Police. However, upon his promotion, Gerard strikes up a quarrel with Silveo, the Admiral of Morchella's Temple ships. Silveo has a reputation for cruelty, cunning, and a biting wit. He's a foxling--a minority species--and rumors say that he was once an assassin, who clawed his way to power from a childhood of poverty and abuse. He cultivates serial affairs with persons ranging from his own lieutenants to dock prostitutes. On the surface, Silveo could not be more different from Gerard--a member of the dominant species class, born to money and power, adhering to strict codes of honor, and devoted to his wife.
In spite of their differences, Morchella orders them to work together. She believes that they can catch the pirates. Their survival may depend upon it.
