Dan finds himself to be overwhelmed with love over Fiona, a beautiful woman who seemed to just appear out of thin air in Kediri, Indonesia, but he soon discovers that just because two people are the only two foreigners in town who speak the same language, it doesn’t mean that they are destined to fall in love.
However, Dan can’t help feeling that he must do everything that he can to try and win her heart, even though he knows next to nothing about her. With the knowledge that, while overseas, you can be anyone you want to be, Dan tries to use the idea of becoming mysterious and fascinating over his decision to move to Indonesia for a low paying teaching job to try and grab Fiona’s attention. At the same time, he begins to wonder about what it was that he came to Indonesia to do in the first place.

Rescue in the Wild is a Smoky Mountain Stickboy adventure book. School’s out for the summer and eleven-year-old Evan Mace is elated. Along with his best friend, Mica Habber, Evan is ready to spend the summer rock-hopping, roaming the woods, and splashing in Hickory Creek. Evan’s Border collie, Boone, will join in the fun. And, though at first Evan and Mica are repulsed by the idea, a new girl resident of the Hickory Creek Cove community, Charu Roundtree, is about to turn the twosome into a threesome. Of course, all three will have to deal with the community bully—Bruce, “the Moose,” Meckel—who is determined to take the fun out of their summer. Evan’s father, Jonathan Mace is a Ranger in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In fact, the Mace land is only separated from the Park by Hickory Creek. Though Evan believes himself too grown-up to believe in magic, he is forced to change his opinion when he finds an unusual stick that obeys his commands. THE STICK eventually assists in the search for Molly, a little girl who becomes lost in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Get ready; adventure ahead!

There is a legend in the world that tells of a weapon sought after by only the most wicked of souls. Passed down through the years since before the coming of the gods, it grants its master the power to conquer and rule. The Rune Breaker.
After decades of dormancy, it just found a new master in Taylin, an escaped slave, who stumbled upon its resting place and found it bound to her will. But as it happens, the Rune Breaker is really a person: the shapeshifting master and dark mage, Ru Brakar, who has been cursed to serve whoever finds him since prehistory.

In a Civil War era prologue to this historically accurate story about the Pilgrims of Plymouth in 1623, Lincoln signs his wartime proclamation making the traditional New England holiday of Thanksgiving a permanent national holiday for the United States of America. Laying down his pen, Lincoln disabuses his listeners of several false or inaccurate legends about the Mayflower Pilgrims. They were not perfect people but all-too-human, the usual combination of admirable strengths and appalling weaknesses. They made mistakes in 1623 that nearly destroyed their settlement at Plymouth. With their backs to the wall they eventually declared a day of fasting, humiliation and prayer. With no other hope remaining, they saw their desperate prayers lead to an astounding demonstration of God’s existence, power and mercy—divine intervention on a scale seldom experienced outside the pages of the Bible. The Pilgrims owed their very survival to this extraordinary instance of providential American history.

How can we enjoy eating sweets without gaining weight or impairing our health? As a journalist, I've asked the famous nutritionist, Professor Marion Nestle, that same question in an interview. In her very interesting book "What to Eat", she wrote that she loves to eat sweets and that she allows herself to eat 10% from her calorie intake as sugars (4 tablespoons a day). The daily calorie intake of an average person is 1,600- 2,200 calories. That means that everyone can eat a treat that has160-220 calories everyday.
Of course you can eat a little piece of chocolate, but who can? A160 calories piece is too small. As a woman who has to struggle with her sweet tooth, I started to invent treat recipes that were tasty and of sufficient size (for example, a standard-size muffin or two large cookies) and had up to 160 calories.

Katine doesn’t know how everyone in her rickety, fish-stinky village came to mysteriously disappear, but she’s not about to abandon the man who fished her cold and limp from the sea all those years ago. And she doesn’t care who or what she has to go through to find him. Whether it’s crotchety rocks, schizophrenic pirates, poetic monsters, tea-addled wizards, or mouthy princesses, Katine will endure it all to find her stepfather.
Even if it means giving up magic itself.
