Like you, I have lost weight and gained it back. I have started exercise programs and not stuck to them. But, in 1979, I lost weight and have kept it off since then.

If you also have tried to lead a healthy lifestyle and found your efforts didn’t work in the past, I have good news: I have found that the secret to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is having fun.

Success comes through having fun. Isn’t that great?

The motto that inspires me is: “Do one thing every day that makes you happy.” Why? Because when you participate in activities that are fun for you, you’ll stick with them. When you find nutritional, healthy foods that you enjoy, you’ll eat them. When you are spending your time on fun activities, you won’t have the time to be stressed (and you’ll avoid emotional eating)!

Read this book to find out more....

Shepard's Guide to Mastering French Wines
Shepard’s Guide to Mastering French Wines - William s. Shepard
Genre - Food, Wine
Rating - G
4.5 (8 reviews)
Free until 31 December 2012
William S. Shepard, Wine Editor for French Wine Explorers, now offers a completely updated revision of his well-regarded 2003 Guide to French wines and their regions of origin. This 2011 Kindle second edition retains the thoroughness – and the humor – of the original. The author wants the reader to stop relying on point scores, and develop his or her own good taste in appreciating these fine wines. And this new second edition includes the Bordeaux vintages of 2005, 2009 and 2010, and the celebrated Burgundy vintage of 2009.

Shepard belongs to five prestigious French wine societies, but his knowledge is worn lightly. As your own knowledge of wines increases, you may want to take his advice and start your own wine cellar. Several specific possibilities are outlined here, so that your own cellar could include fine samples from Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, Alsace and Champagne.

Are you on a budget? You’ll be glad to know that special attention is given to less expensive wines which deserve to be better known. For example, the effervescent Crémant wines receive their due recognition in the chapter dealing with Champagne. (They are delicious – and cost perhaps one-third of the price for a nonvintage champagne from a prestigious house such as Taittinger or Pol Roger. Here alone, the savings from just one purchase more than cover the cost of the book.) Do join him in relishing the inexpensive wines of the French Southwest, such as Madiran and Cahors.

The book is user friendly, with logical progression from the regions of Bordeaux (the Médoc, St. Emilion and Pomerol) to Burgundy (with separate chapters for the celebrated regions of the Côte d’Or), Champagne, and the Rhône Valley. The book has embedded dozens of hyperlinks to websites from the wine producers of each region, so the reader can go instantly from Shepard’s Guide to the region itself. That is particularly useful if the reader, as Shepard urges, wishes to make personal appointments throughout the region. Here are the email contacts to do precisely that, while still reading the book!

There is special consideration for the great white wines of France, whether the magnificent white Burgundy wines, or those of Champagne or Bordeaux. Tasting notes of recent vintages abound, so that the reader can expand his knowledge of the finest wines. The world of Sauternes is made accessible, and many readers will particularly enjoy his final chapter, on Cognac and Armagnac.

The author knows many French wine producers and has personally visited over sixty of their estates, in every region. Join him for a wine reading adventure that turns into more appreciation for the glories of French wines. Whether it’s Beaujolais, the summer wines of the Loire Valley, or the robust wines of Châteauneuf du Pape, your favorite wines are here.

For less money than you’d pay for a single glass of wine, treat yourself to the best guide to French wines!

Christmas Shopping, Again

Author Unknown

I am flat broke from overspending at Christmas time. But I need to go shopping again soon because I am completely out of self-respect. I've said things I wish I could take back and I am not feeling too good about myself.

I also want to exchange a carton of self righteousness for an equal amount of humility. I hear that it is less expensive and wears well, and while I'm at it I'm going to check on tolerance and see if there is any available in my size.

I must remember to try to match my patience with the little I have left. My neighbor is loaded with it and it looks awfully good on her. I was told the same department has a repair shop for mending integrity. Mine has become frayed around the edges from too much compromising. If I don't get it refurbished soon, there won't be any left.

I almost forgot the most important thing of all -- compassion. If I see some-no matter what the color, size or shape -- I'm going to stock up heavily regardless of the price. I have run out of it so many times and I always feel ashamed when it happens.

I don't know why it has taken me so long to get around to shopping for these items. They don't cost nearly as much as some of the frivolous things I bought at Christmas time. And I'll get a lot more satisfaction from them.

Yes, I'm going shopping today and I can leave my checkbook and credit cards at home! The things I'm looking for have no price-tags. What a joy!

The Book of Paul by Richard Long
Genre – Paranormal Thriller / Dark Fantasy
Rating – R
4.5 (60 reviews)
"Everything you've ever believed about yourself...about the description of reality you've
clung to so stubbornly all your life...all of it...every bit of an illusion."

In the rubble-strewn wasteland of Alphabet City, a squalid tenement conceals a treasure "beyond all imagining"-- an immaculately preserved, fifth century codex. The sole repository of ancient Hermetic lore, it contains the alchemical rituals for transforming thought into substance, transmuting matter at will...and attaining eternal life.

When Rose, a sex and pain addicted East Village tattoo artist has a torrid encounter with Martin, a battle-hardened loner, they discover they are unwitting pawns on opposing sides of a battle that has shaped the course of human history. At the center of the conflict is Paul, the villainous overlord of an underground feudal society, who guards the book's occult secrets in preparation for the fulfillment of an apocalyptic prophecy.

The action is relentless as Rose and Martin fight to escape Paul's clutches and Martin's destiny as the chosen recipient of Paul's sinister legacy.  Science and magic, mythology and technology converge in a monumental battle where the stakes couldn't be higher: control of the ultimate power in the universe--the Maelstrom.

The Book of Paul is the first of seven volumes in a sweeping mythological narrative tracing the mystical connections between Hermes Trismegistus in ancient Egypt, Sophia, the female counterpart of Christ, and the Celtic druids of Clan Kelly.
About the author

Richard Long writes to exorcize the demons of his past and manifest the dreams of his future.
His debut novel, The Book of Paul, is a dark, thrilling, and psychologically rich supernatural horror/thriller that blends mythology, science and mystery into a page-turning addiction.
Richard is also writing a YA novel, The Dream Palace, primarily so that his children can read his books.
He lives in Manhattan with his wife, two amazing children and their wicked black cat, Merlin.

• What research has shown can actually alter your genetics, and what you must do to make sure your genes aren't keeping you unhealthy and out of shape.

• And much more!

Dieting can mean giving up your favorite foods, spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals, not enjoying meals with friends, and paying a fortune on costly health foods. Factor in the stress of trying to change your dietary habits, and it's no wonder having to muster up the motivation to stay on a diet can feel downright impossible.

But if sticking to a diet was impossible, then how can a person that ate fast food every single night, drank sugary soft drinks all day, and hated healthy foods transform into someone that has eaten a healthy diet everyday for 9 years straight?

The answer may have something to do with a few little known secrets about human psychology that allow you to completely transform the wiring in your brain.

Fitness expert and former unhealthy eater Derek Doepker shares with you the same strategies used by himself and many others to successfully overcome all of the obstacles to getting and staying motivated on a diet.

The Fourth Awakening Chronicles (Book I)
The Fourth Awakening - Rod Pennington
Genre - New Age Spirituality
Rating - Pg13
Price - $.99
Chronicles is a series of short Novellas based on the characters and concepts explored in the full-length novel "The Fourth Awakening." The story picks up where the second novel in The Fourth Awakening series, "The Gathering Darkness", leaves off. While each Chronicle is a stand-alone episode that can be read independently, it is a part of a much larger and continuing story.

Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Penelope Drayton Spence is seeking to interview people who have arrived at the Fourth Awakening either through their own efforts or having it thrust on them unwittingly. With no noticeable outward changes, these people are difficult to identify and even harder to convince to talk about their experiences. The problem for Penelope is that when she can locate a potential candidate they have a nasty habit of simply vanishing.

The goal of each Chronicle is to present an Enlightened “Archetype,” and explore its characteristics. The archetypes are derived from and based on research conducted by the book’s second-author, Jeffery A. Martin, that involved over a thousand of these individuals worldwide. More about that research project can be found at:

In the first Chronicle we meet a professional gambler in Las Vegas, Daniel Wooten. He is a middle-aged, confirmed bachelor with no religious moorings. Wooten has never meditated, hasn’t been in a church in decades and hadn’t shown the slightest interest in his spiritual side until the moment he found himself enlightened.

The Fourth Awakening by Rod Pennington & Jeffery A. Martin has been the Amazon Kindle #1 Bestseller in “New Age > Mysticism” in the US for over three consecutive years. It has also been #1 in the UK in “Thought & Practice > Mysticism” for over two years.

Meghan ends up back on earth where she meets Jason. But Jason is in danger and Meghan knows something important. Something that is a matter of life and death. Soon she is forced to choose between the two worlds. The one she belongs to now and the one she left.

- Willow Rose definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. She balanced fantasy and intense emotion brilliantly. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys the paranormal. - Fictitious Musings

- I loved this book! It was really good and just warm with a touch of darkness to it (...) It's good stuff! - That Chick That Reads

- Death & Life meet with a twist. Definitely worth a read - Becky's Barmy Book Blog

It is Meghan's second year at The Academy.

While trying to help and care for Jason on earth she is struggling to keep up in school, where they this year will learn both to ride Pegasus' and fly through severe storms. Meanwhile Mick is becoming more than a friend to her and soon she finds herself facing the unavoidable choice.

But something evil is threatening the students at the Academy and Meghan is no longer safe within the walls of the castle. Something causes several of the students to be caught in the middle of a nightmare, that they can't wake up from.

Soon they realize that they might have a traitor in their midst.

This was a wonderful sequel. Every bit as good as the first book in the series. Now on to the third one - I am really excited to see what happens next. I can recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal romance. /Goodreads

Meghan's training at the Academy is coming to an end. Everything is going great as she comes closer to graduation. She is engaged to be married and the wedding is near when she hears some disturbing news that makes her rethink her future.

In class the students are learning to catch dreams and fly with the speed of light. Meghan soon discovers her special talents and that she is much stronger than she thought. But unfortunately that doesn't help her as she faces the truth about her own death, which will be revealed to her at the end of the year.

Endurance is the third book in Willow Rose's Afterlife series about a young girl's life after death.

I hope there will be more in this series because I have enjoyed getting to know Meghan and her friends, Mick, Jason, and the teachers at the Academy.

On the seventeenth of May 1982, an infant girl of only a few hours old was found in an abandoned stolen car, on the bridge of a dam. Abandoned for no one, for no one came to claim her as their child, no one came to say that they were responsible for this babe, no one came to love her. This was how it was to be, always.

The police called her ‘Lotus’ after the Lotus Esprit her life was discovered in. ‘Ogden’ after the dam the car rested over on that day. Lotus Ogden was named and a person.

Lotus tells us the story of her short life, from the abuse at the hands of her adoptive father, to the several foster families, children's homes and detentions. She finds unlikely allies in car thieves and drug dealers but her life of crime extends so much further than any of them ever realise.

So very young, she takes her first life and realises how easy it was, and how no-one would ever suspect the poor, timid, shy little girl who nobody calls their own.

Orangeberry Book Tours – Church Boyz’ Series by HH Fowler

Imagine sharing the spotlight with a ruthless blackmailer, whose only intention, is to take all of which you’ve worked hard to achieve – your wealth, your fame, and your church of seven thousand members. For Pastor Leroy Paxton of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, this is no imagination. Five years ago, he committed a toxic sin and almost lost his life trying to cover it up. He now comes face to face with his past, which haunts him from the pulpit to his bedroom. And the only way out of this nightmare is to make a decision that could cost him everything.
Then imagine being mentored by one of the most revered men, Abraham Winder, whose stance on accountability and sexual purity is taught rigorously within the Mount Moriah mentoring program, only to discover your mentor is not what you expect. This is the reality for Dominic Housten, one of Abraham’s closet and trusted protégés, who accidentally stumbles upon a scene that left him frozen in disbelief. As Dominic struggles with betrayal, he confides in the pastor’s daughter – the only woman he’d secretly loved for years. The only problem with that is the pastor’s daughter is married to Phillip Benjamin, a deacon of the church and an extremely jealous man, who suspects Dominic’s intention runs deeper than just a casual friendship.
The intertwined lives of these four men show that the righteous are not perfect, and at times, are tempted to forsake the ways of God. As each of these men battle to regain their focus, they will come to realize that the consequences of their sins are far greater than they’d anticipated – just one stupid mistake could produce a lifetime of hell!

To some, death is the end; to others, a beginning. To Icarus Fell, it should have been a relief from a life gone seriously awry. But death had other plans.

Icarus doesn't believe that the man awaiting him when he wakes up in a cheap motel room is really the archangel Michael, or that God's right hand wants him to help souls on their way to Heaven. Icarus doesn't believe there's a Heaven, so why should they want his help?

But the man claiming to be the archangel tempts him with an offer he can't ignore--harvest enough souls and get back the life he wished he'd had.

It seems Icarus has nothing to lose, until he botches a harvest and the soul that went to Hell instead of Heaven comes back to make him pay by threatening to take away the life he hoped to win back.
To save the wife and son he already lost once, Icarus will have to become the man he never was. Somehow, he will have to learn to believe.

Unique and distinct in setting and style, Lunara takes the reader on a space adventure set in our solar system. This full length novel (388 print pages) is a mix of action adventure and space opera.
Earth is dead, destroyed by a barrage of meteors. What was left of the population has escaped to Mars and colonized it as humanities new home.

Lunara, a small colony on Earth’s moon, is charged with catching and mining meteors for desperately needed minerals. But the deep-seated human thirst for domination is not easily defeated, nor is the capacity for deceit and betrayal. All it needs is a powerful catalyst, a prize valuable enough to risk plunging mankind into another destructive war.

Parker McCloud and his friends, Seth and Chloe, are caught up in a violent series of events when Lunara is invaded. On Mars, Parker, Seth, Chloe, and the crew of the Protector attempt to sort out who is responsible, where the tide of suspicion swings back and forth between Aethpis and Zephyria.
In the end, we see barbarism by the leaders of Mars, great courage by the crew of the Protector, and immense valor by the military on Lunara in adventure one in an exciting new series.

Orangeberry Book Tours – Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever by LV Lewis

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY to the second power meets Keisha and Jada from the Block.
If you’ve wondered how an ethnic girl from the hood might’ve handled an arrangement with an experienced white Dominant, this is your book. If you’d like to see the sexiest TWIN DOMS in a contemporary romance series in interracial relationships, this is most definitely your book.
Aspiring recording studio owners, Keisha Beale and Jada Jameson, score a rare meeting with venture capitalist Tristan White, and are thrust into a world beyond their wildest imaginations.
Street-wise Keisha is startled to realize she wants this rich white man, despite the certainty that he is out of her league. Unable to resist Keisha’s sassy, irreverent, and fiercely independent spirit, Tristan knew from day one he wanted her, too–as his first African American submissive.
Upper Class Jada of the Springfield Jamesons has traveled in almost the same circles as the White brothers, and has had a secret crush on Nathan White, the point guard for the Chicago Bulls, for quite some time.
Both brothers have succumbed to jungle fever, and want a little coffee in their cream.
Lured by Tristan White and his offer of fronting the capital for her business in exchange for kinky sex, Keisha finds herself with no other option. Keisha is also tortured by a demons from her past, and her inability to come to terms with them threatens to undermine the future of her business and her tumultuous, unconventional relationship with Tristan White.
Erotic, amusing, and in places hilarious, the Ghetto Girl Erotica Trilogy is a parody with a unique take on a Fifty Shades-type story that will take you even further into the BDSM world, and promises to make the vanilla original Fifty Shades Blacker.
The first two books focus on Keisha and Tristan’s romance, and the final two focus on Jada and Nathan’s.
