Forever After - David Jester

Genre - Fantasy

Rating - PG13

Free until 1 July 2013

Forever After follows Michael Holland, a grim reaper in a grim town. An embittered and melancholic man who struggles to grasp the purpose of his own existence, or lack thereof. He is a minuscule cog in a monumental machine and knows less of his role than those surrounding him -- from his boss, the mighty Angel of Death, to his friend and flatmate Chip: a grubby midget tooth fairy with an addiction to pot and procrastination.
Brittleside is a dank, dark and decrepit town, and Michael Holland is its reluctant reaper. From dealing with the drunks, the druggies and the wasters, to tracking an escaped demon who believes he is Santa Claus; Forever After follows his escapades over four dark and humorous tales.
A paranormal and comic romp through a fantasy world where the mythical, the fantastical, the insane and the typical combine. A mix of dystopia and comedy, if the works of Philip K. Dick and Terry Pratchett were to ever procreate, Forever After would be the bastard child of their creative communion.
The opening novel to the Forever After series.

In our beloved fairy tales of old, Prince Charming always saves the damsel in distress. In our modern world, sometimes the damsel has to find a way to save her prince.
When Sarah White meets the ruggedly handsome Staff Sergeant Charlie Prince, she discovers a man with a pure heart hidden underneath his warrior façade. Before Charlie leaves with his unit for Afghanistan, he promises to stay in touch, but after nine months of exchanging letters and emails, he stops writing. When the letters stop coming, Sarah waits in agonized suspense, not knowing if the man she had fallen in love with has been killed in action or if he has just decided he is no longer interested in her.
Magic is real, but it’s not for the fainthearted or nonbelievers. It takes true love to release it and hard work and determination to keep it.

Genre - Thriller

Rating - PG13

Free until 4 July 2013

One man on a decades old mission. A woman who hunts him. The bullet they share.

Joe Klingler’s debut novel twists from the shadows of a war long past to headlines hiding Washington secrets behind corporate incompetence when two warriors face off. Both skilled at violence. And deception. Both accustomed to winning.

Summer greets the land of the midnight sun as a lone rider races across the last American wilderness, delivering on a promise he made long ago. He has many names, but the world only knows a shadow called the Demon.

Claire Ferreti, the sniper who will soon hunt him, sips sake in Washington D.C. with her lover, a young General whose specialty is rarely discussed.

When a boy finds a small machine, the rider and sniper embark on a collision course that leads to a typhoon-ravaged jungle, a test of skill and ideology, and Claire’s unconscious body bleeding in the mud. In an instant she becomes the hunted, a tool for survival, and an unforeseen threat as the General pursues her into a labyrinth of cyber-secrets where political expedience and financial reality collide like a fireball piercing steel pipe.

A memoir of growing up in Defiance, a small town in northwest Ohio, in the '60s. The author's adventures included one sister and 14 cats. The book details memories of Spencer School in Defiance, shopping at G.C. Murphy's - a popular five and dime store, and visiting the Toledo Zoo.
We had a black and white television - a small screen in a big wooden cabinet, and we were happy to be able to choose from three or four channels. There was no cable service or plasma TV during my childhood.
I walked to school each day - half a mile, uphill both ways, in all kinds of weather.
I grew up without a cell phone. Our only phone was a black, corded model with a rotary dial, and a five digit telephone number. We had a party line, shared with three other families. If we needed to use a phone when we were away from home, there was a pay phone on almost every street corner.
There was no GPS in our car. We found our way across the country, using paper maps we got free at the gas station. The gas station attendant filled the gas tank, checked the oil, and cleaned the windshield. We didn't even have to get out of the car!
The 60's was a quiet, relatively safe time, and kids could play outside all day long without their parents worrying about bad things happening. Most mothers were stay-at-home moms who cooked, cleaned, ironed, and baked cookies. There was no need to lock the doors, except at night.
