The name Grace Doll is my aunt's name---so unusual, I had to use it somewhere! As an indie author, one of the things I like best about my work is controlling the outcome from inception to hardcover book. I toyed around with different cover concepts, but loved the idea of the starlet in her chair. On the back flap, the chair is empty. The distressed artwork, the color scheme all lend themselves to the mood of the book.
Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life?
Brenden's estranged relationship with his father is kind of me 'purging' about my relationship with my estranged father. Both fathers were in show business, both had remarried, both were perceived as selfish and neglectful. Then of course there's the title being the name of my aunt. I enjoy using details from my own life, or the lives of people I know-- I feel very connected to a story that way.
Are you a self published (Indie) author?
Happily, yes.
What book do you know that you will never read?
Fifty Shades of Gray
Have you ever read a book more than once?
Constantly. In fact, as the reading choices of today become more scarce ( IMO ) I turn back to my "bibles" ( fav books ) all the time. At least I'm guaranteed a quality read.
Who designed the cover of your book?
Cortnie Lowe, friend, critique partner and artist.
Do you have a book trailer? Yes!
How do you feel about book trailers?
I love them. And, with Grace Doll being about the film industry and movie stars, a book trailer works nicely for it. ( Blogger note: Please have the book trailer posted with this post - you can find it by going to YouTube and searching for: Grace Doll book trailer. )
ebook or hardcover?
Ebook. I have a Nook and never have to worry about pages falling out, yellowing or whatever.
Thanks for having me!
Grace Doll had everything a girl could want: Fame. Fortune. Beauty.Everything except, of course, her freedom. So when a powerful movie producer forces an experimental treatment on Grace--one that's purported to make beauty immortal--she stages her own death to escape him. With the help of trusted friends, Grace slips into hiding. She's forever flawless, forever young and forever pursued by her past. But when a stranger arrives on her doorstep, holding the key to a life she thought she'd left behind, Grace must decide between the safety she's known... and embracing the role she was born to play.
